May 2011 RCI Results Show Apartment Rents Rising

  • Based on information from the May Realtors® Confidence Index, increasing numbers of Realtors® are reporting rising Apartment rents.
  • A total of 64 percent reported rents as rising or constant (48 percent rising, 16 percent constant), while 15 percent reported declines.
  • Realtors reporting “Not Available” were 21 percent (probably because they did not conduct rentals in both years for comparison purposes).
  • The trend in increasing rents is expected to continue, providing potential buyers with an additional reason to enter the market.
