July Regional Vice-Presidential Reports: Region 3 And Region 4 Highlights

Local data is critical to understanding local markets, but real time information is best. Each Survey of REALTOR® Sentiment/ Regional Vice-Presidential Report (RVPR) is a collection of results from NAR's most recent REALTOR® Confidence Index along with commentary from NAR's Regional Vice President for that region. These RVPRs—which reflect data available through July 2011—provide insights into the buzz on the street for each of the regional housing markets.

Region3
After falling sharply last year in the wake of the expired tax credit, home purchases by first time buyers have risen steadily in Region 3 (Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, West Virginia) as a share of total purchases.

Region 4
Did you know that the share of foreclosures as a share of total homes sold in Region 4 (Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee) fell sharply between the 1st and 2nd quarters of 2011, though it is slightly elevated from the same time in 2010.
